Which Is The Best Jar Opener for Arthritis?
The Arthritis I’m feeling in my hands is not too bad, YET, but it does make simple tasks such as opening a pickle jar a very difficult and frustrating ordeal. To ease the pain and frustration of opening jars I went in search of a Jar Opener For Arthritis.
So what is Arthritis? When were younger and our cartilage was healthy, our bones would glide over each other and absorb the shock of our movements. In arthritis the top layer of our cartilage breaks down and wears away. Sometimes our joints can even lose their shape. This causes the bones to rub together (bone on bone), this can be very painful! Our joints hurt and our range of motion is greatly reduced. Making everyday tasks more and more difficult. To learn more about Arthritis check it out here.
If you’re affected by arthritis I found that Arthritis Kitchen tools are great because they’re specially designed for arthritis sufferers.

The 4 In 1 Magic Opener Extreme Jar Opener For Arthritis
Info Found On This Page
The less stress we put on our joints the better and the magic opener is one of the most popular on the market, with over 200 reviews it’s definitely one you’ll want to look at. What I love about the Magic Opener is that it makes it possible for me to open cans with the pull tabs, I can’t tell you how many times I’ve had the tab break off as I was trying to open it. This is such a great multi-use kitchen utensil, your hands will thank you. I love all of its great features:
- Has a glass bottle opener
- Opens pull tabs
- Opener is magnetic so it can be placed on the frig
- Ergonomic design for a better feel in your hand
The Magic Opener does have interchangeable plates, that will accommodate all sizes of jars. You will have to buy the additional plates which is kind of a bummer but it does enable you to open all jars. The cost of the plates is around $15.00 for a set of 3.

*I did not know this but all soda lids are the same size, 12 oz, 16 oz and even 2 liter bottles. Not so with water, lids come in many different sizes.
Hamilton Beach Open Ease Jar Opener For Arthritic Hands
If your looking for just a jar opener this is the perfect one. What I like about this opener is the fact that they actually went to the source when designing it. They went to the Arthritis Institute and talked to people with dexterity issues. They learned they needed to focus on handgrip, comfort, and control. Their Focus was to make the consumers life easier and I think they accomplished it.
- Opens lids from 1″ to 4″.
- Easy push button
- Compact for easy storage in a drawer or cabinet
- Opens 250+ jars with a single set of batteries
- Backed with a one-year warranty
It is so simple to use, place the jar opener on top of the jar and press the “Open Jar” button. The outer arms will grip the jar while the inner arms close tightly around the lid and rotate to loosen the lid. Then you press the “Release Lid” button and the arms let go of the lid and jar. The jar opener will turn off automatically. Its That simple!
While this is not stated in the features of the for Open Ease Jar Opener it will open childproof lids. That is a huge plus for me, I detest getting those childproof lids off and open. This is a true blessing for arthritis hands. In the reviews there were a couple of negatives, some felt the Hamilton Beach was a bit slow and some felt it was a bit noisy. Neither one of the negatives interfered with the performance of the opener. The One Touch operation far outweighs the negatives.
I know its a hard decision, each has great features but it is a must for our tired and aging hands.
